Here are the interesting tweets from the last three months about Ruby. You’ll notice that we’ve added a new Twitter account for Ruby’s own words. (At the moment, we’re just choosing interesting quotes, but when she’s older she can choose what to say.)

Aug 25	Kate	A woman drenched in old-lady perfume insisted on a hug/kiss from Ruby today. Somehow the stench has transferred to ME. Can’t get rid of it!!
Aug 26	Kate	At a playground watching Ruby totally pwn an older & bigger kid at climbing up the big-kid jungle gym.
Aug 29	Ruby	I’m going to Alaska! And I’m coming right back. There were some things there that were bad, so I didn’t touch them.
Aug 29	Steve	Tried teaching Ruby the don’t-go-on-the-blue-carpet-because-it’s-water-and-the-sharks-will-get-you game. When the sharks got me, Ruby cried.
Sep 01	Ruby	You only eat sandwiches, you don’t BE sandwiches.
Sep 02	Ruby	We might hear more flunder. But it won’t be too loud. It won’t rumple. It’s gonna be OK for us.
Sep 02	Kate	Ruby and I are off to our first kid circus class! I hope it lives up to my high expectations.
Sep 02	Kate	Circus class is AWESOME. No stupid songs, no dumb games, just playing/working on the equipment. Ruby loved it.
Sep 03	Kate	At Ruby’s 1st day of preschool! I’ll be lurking all day, but next week she’ll be on her own. She was excited but had a nervous moment too.

Sep 06	Kate	At a Recess Monkey concert with the family. Ruby likes it but is mostly into doing somersaults & attempted handstands on the grass.
Sep 07	Kate	Going to seize the day and go swimming with the family at Mounger Pool’s last day of the season. Colds and sniffles be damned!

Sep 08	Kate	Ruby jumped happily into preschool today, and I’m off to my first soccer clinic (hoping to finally improve my offensive skills).

Sep 09	Steve	Ruby is deep in her “why” phase. When she asked “why do we have hands?” I had to resist starting with a backgrounder in evolutionary theory.
Sep 10	Kate	All the constantly snacking toddlers are corrupting Ruby. Hard to keep saying no when she’s the only one in the group w/o a steady supply.
Sep 10	Kate	This week, Ruby is all about pretending to be animals. So far, she’s been a cat, pig, snake, bunny, bear, and dog (her current favorite).
Sep 12	Kate	Heading to Discovery Park to do some “hiking” with Ruby before frisbee. She’ll be carrying her own small backpack and sporting hiking boots.
Sep 12	Kate	Today we learned about devil’s club. Luckily the contact was minor so nobody was very traumatized.
Sep 17	Ruby	We should go on a scary ride. I like the scary ones. Now is the time!

Sep 17	Steve	Awesome family day: Puyallup Fair (Ruby’s first coaster ride!), steak & wine in the backyard, a bunch of fruit picking. Even mowed the lawn!
Sep 24	Steve	Wednesday nights are awesome because that’s when Mama and Papa crack a bottle of wine and laugh at all the funny things Ruby says.

Sep 30	Steve	Ruby has an imaginary friend. I’m kinda wigged out, because this is how horror films start.
Sep 30	Ruby	She’s Kalaka-laka & she’s not pretend, she’s real. She’s a roof-flier. She has a hotair balloon & she has goong. I named her Oonggoonggoong.
Oct 02	Ruby	I want to be a men. I don’t want to be a women. Just because. I’m a Ruby. I don’t want to be a Ruby women.
Oct 03	Kate	Ruby and I, both feeling a bit sick, are having a cozy day at home in our sweats. See you next week, frisbee folks.
Oct 04	Steve	When Ruby comes down from her nap we’re going to go outside and harvest our grapes. Then we’re going to make grape juice and grape pie.
Oct 04	Steve	Good news is, Ruby seems to like sea scallops as much as me. Bad news is, that means I had to give her one of mine.
Oct 05	Steve	While Kate was out getting tea I made a “thunder machine” with Ruby: chestnuts rattling inside two metal pie plates. Kate was not impressed.
Oct 05	Ruby	Guess what? Nobody pees in their undies. Except alligators.
Oct 06	Kate	At preschool, this week’s letter is C. I dressed Ruby in a Canada shirt and instructed her to say “I’m Canadian!” any time it came up.
Oct 07	Kate	Ruby ended up dressed kind of punk today, although that wasn’t what I had in mind when I started dressing her. I like it anyway.
Oct 08	Ruby	In order to make a house, you need a hammer and a pliers and a bleeding sun.

Oct 14	Kate	Unbearably proud of Ruby for being able to find Mongolia, Russia, Australia, Canada, the US, & Madagascar on her world map placemat.
Oct 15	Ruby	There’s a kid inside a bubble flying in the sky. She changed green and then to blue and red and then she’s done flying. One kid married her.
Oct 17	Ruby	I don’t need privacy. My poop is not stinky.
Oct 18	Steve	Taking Ruby to the U District farmer’s market, then canoeing in the arboreturm.
Oct 18	Steve	Kayaking with Ruby was awesome. We saw turtles! Now I’m taking a break in the sunny backyard while goat curry simmers on the stove.
Oct 22	Kate	Ruby got a haircut today but I think it’s a bit too short. Mrr.
Oct 22	Kate	We’ve resorted to a performance-based dessert system for toilet training. I’m quite ambivalent about it, but Ruby is responding well so far.
Oct 23	Kate	No babysitter tonight so we’re taking Ruby to soccer with us! Hope her frisbee sideline experience will kick in & keep her happy & in place.

Oct 25	Ruby	I’m voting for Obama with my tambourine. When I vote for Obama there’s a kind of wind. It goes WHOOOOOOOSH.

Oct 31	Steve	Hallowe’en with Ruby: visited one house that had pumpkins and lights but no candy. Woman vainly tried to give Ruby a sparkly brooch instead.

Nov 05	Ruby	I’m gonna have a big axe when I grow tall.
Nov 08	Steve	Ruby is super excited to play with blocks after dinner. So am I.
Nov 08	Ruby	They said sabotage on the radio. They’re saying sabotage. I sing sabotage. I sing that song. “Sabotage is so much fun… ooo ooo”
Nov 09	Steve	Making paper daisies for Ruby to stomp on with her big red boots.
Nov 09	Steve	Spent the early afternoon napping lightly in the big orange chair while Ruby played around me, her chattering coloring my dreams.
Nov 11	Steve	Remembrance Day: showing Ruby my great-grandfather’s war medals from (WWI & WWII) and talking about how both of us are named after him.
Nov 11	Steve	A few mins after putting Ruby to bed, I heard a rattling noise. Turns out she’d gotten her can of coins and brought it into bed with her.
Nov 12	Ruby	I’m going to go dog sledding later. Later on, my dog’s gonna have some ice cream because he pooped in the potty. As a treat. Yeah.
